Dennis Helfer and Elaine Helfer are the parents of Helfer. She has German, English and Swedish descent. She was a student at her school, the William E. Hay Composite High School situated within Stettler (Alberta). The three sisters she had, Tammy, Tara and Trena worked and lived on her farm owned by her parents.
